Can I earn AAdvantage® status through my card? +
AAdvantage® status can be earned through spend on the AAdvantage® Debit Card; this is calculated as 1 status point earned per 1 base mile awarded. Bonus miles are excluded, but miles earned through the Refer a Friend scheme are included.

There is no limit to AAdvantage® status which can be earned and miles do not expire. For further information on status and airline benefits, please visit American Airlines.
How do I earn American Airlines AAdvantage® miles? +

Earn American Airlines AAdvantage® miles on all eligible everyday GBP and foreign currency spending.

With the Roundup Miles feature, you can supercharge your American Airlines AAdvantage® miles balance by rounding up your transactions to the nearest 10p or 20p, and we’ll convert the difference to American Airlines AAdvantage® miles. Find out more here.

    When spending in foreign currency, our £75 per year AAdvantage® Mastercard Platinum Debit Card plan provides cardholders with the Currensea Realtime Rate plus 0.95% FX fee. See live rates here.
    When making ATM withdrawals abroad, the Currensea Realtime Rate + 0.95% FX mark-up applies up to £250 per month. Above this amount, the Currensea Realtime Rate + 2.5% applies. Limit resets monthly. ATM operator fees may apply.

1. Bonus miles: Earn 2,000 bonus miles with the Platinum Card when spending £1,500 in foreign currency within the first 12 months of Cardmembership, or 5,000 bonus miles with the Black Card when spending £3,500 in foreign currency within the first 12 months. Plus, customers who create their Card by 11:59pm UK time on 30 March 2027 and spend £250 or more with their AAdvantage® Debit Card on items billed by American Airlines as merchant within the first 12 months of Cardmembership, can earn an additional 2,000 (Platinum) or 5,000 bonus miles (Black). Items that do not qualify are car rentals, hotel reservations, “American Airlines Vacations℠ Packages”, and AACargo℠ products and services. Bonus miles are typically awarded 15 calendar days after qualifying criteria have been met. Full terms and conditions apply.

Unlimited Loyalty Points: Receive 1 Loyalty Point per base mile earned from eligible purchases, successful referrals (1,000 points and miles per referral), and through Roundup Miles and Turbo Miles purchases. 3. Miles never expire: American Airlines AAdvantage® miles will not expire as long as you earn or redeem miles once every 24 months on American Airlines, an affiliated carrier or with an American Airlines AAdvantage® partner. If you’re a primary AAdvantage® debit cardholder or under 21 years of age, your miles will not expire. See full terms here.
4. Priority check-in and Preferred (Group 5) boarding: Available exclusively to primary AAdvantage® Mastercard® Black Cardholders on flights marketed and operated by American Airlines. Priority Check-in applies only to flights departing from London Heathrow (LHR), regardless of ticket class, and cardholders must present a valid Black Card at the premium check-in desk to access the benefit. Preferred (Group 5) boarding is applied to the cardholder’s boarding pass at check-in. Benefits are subject to operational availability and airport operational constraints and are not guaranteed if boarding has already commenced or in the event of aircraft changes.
5. One Million Miles Sweepstake: Five winners will each receive 200,000 bonus miles. To enter, customers must apply for and purchase their Card before before 11:59pm UK time on 22 February 2027. Winners will be selected by random draw on 2 November 2026, 1 December 2026, 4 January 2027, 1 February 2027, 1 March 2027. See full terms here.

Based on a comparison of UK airline-branded loyalty cards as of June 2026, this earning rate represents the highest mileage rate available on international spend, outperforming standard UK premium airline credit and debit cards reward structures.
